Heroin Anonymous is a twelve-step fellowship for people recovering from heroin and opioid addiction. Meetings are free and open to anyone with a desire to stay clean.

A meeting is peer support, not medical care. If you’ve been drinking or using heavily for a long time, stopping suddenly can be risky — some withdrawal needs medical attention, and alcohol withdrawal in particular can be dangerous. If you feel unwell or unsafe, contact a doctor or your local emergency number.

Common questions about HA

Are HA meetings free and anonymous?
Yes. HA meetings are free to attend — no dues, fees, referral, or insurance needed — and anonymity is a core principle, so you can come as you are. Anyone who wants help is welcome.
Can I attend HA meetings online?
Many HA groups meet online as well as in person. The official HA finder lists current online meetings.
How is Heroin Anonymous different from NA?
HA centers specifically on recovery from heroin and opioids, while NA is for drug addiction of any kind. If heroin has been your main struggle you might feel more at home in HA — but both use the same 12-step peer support, so it's worth trying whichever fits.
Do I have to be religious to join HA?
No. HA welcomes people of any religion or none. The program is usually described as spiritual rather than religious, and many areas offer secular, agnostic, or non-religious meetings.
