Are SA meetings free and anonymous?
Yes. SA meetings are free to attend — no dues, fees, referral, or insurance needed — and anonymity is a core principle, so you can come as you are. Anyone who wants help is welcome.
Can I attend SA meetings online?
Many SA groups meet online as well as in person. The official SA finder lists current online meetings.
What does “sexual sobriety” mean in SA?
SA uses its own fellowship-wide definition of sexual sobriety, which is more specific than the definitions some other fellowships use. If that matters to you, it's best to read SA's own statement directly.
What's the difference between SA and SAA?
Both are 12-step, but SA uses one shared definition of sobriety while SAA leaves more of that to each member's own recovery plan. Their cultures and literature differ, so try the one whose approach fits you.
Do I have to be religious to join SA?
No. SA welcomes people of any religion or none. The program is usually described as spiritual rather than religious, and many areas offer secular, agnostic, or non-religious meetings.
