Are UA meetings free and anonymous?
Yes. UA meetings are free to attend — no dues, fees, referral, or insurance needed — and anonymity is a core principle, so you can come as you are. Anyone who wants help is welcome.
Can I attend UA meetings online?
Many UA groups meet online as well as in person. The official UA finder lists current online meetings.
What does “underearning” mean in UA?
In UA, underearning is broader than a low salary — it can include underusing your abilities, avoiding opportunities, or trouble earning enough to meet your needs. It's the fellowship's own idea, not a diagnosis.
How is UA different from Debtors Anonymous?
UA focuses on underearning and how you use time, work, and opportunity; DA focuses on compulsive debting. They overlap, and some people relate to both, but they're separate fellowships.
Do I have to be religious to join UA?
No. UA welcomes people of any religion or none. The program is usually described as spiritual rather than religious, and many areas offer secular, agnostic, or non-religious meetings.
